Our Vision

Driving Positive Change

Suicide and Society is a knowledge mobilisation platform based at the University of Hull, bringing together research, lived experience and professional expertise to explore suicide as both a public health and social justice issue.

Through podcasts, blogs, research and conversations, we aim to make evidence accessible, stimulate debate and create connections between researchers, practitioners, policymakers, communities and people with lived experience. Our focus extends beyond individual mental health to the wider social conditions that shape suicide and suicide prevention, including inequality, exclusion, disadvantage and the rapidly changing social and digital worlds in which people live.

Suicide and Society is part of the University of Hull’s Suicide Prevention and Social Justice Research Cluster and is affiliated with the NIHR funded Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Research (CAMHR), connecting our work to a wider programme of interdisciplinary research seeking to improve policy, practice and responses to mental health, addiction and suicide.
